How records create obligations — and how to fix them.
Every institutional obligation attaches to a record: an account holder, a tenant, a registered keeper, an employee number. When something goes wrong, the first question is always which record names you.
Records can be wrong. People are billed for homes they left, fined for cars they sold, chased for accounts they never opened. Every one of those has an official correction route.
The correction route always produces a document. That document is the thing you keep. Institutions believe documents.
Key points
- Find the record before you argue about the duty.
- Correct it through the official route, in writing.
- Keep the confirmation, not just the request.
- Suspected fraud: report it and get a reference number.
You’re safe. You’re capable. You’re legally unstoppable.
